    Do you know if this spray is safe to use on Senecio Crassissimus Vertical Leaf Lavender Steps succulent? I used it on a Huernia Zebrina and it worked good for that, so do you think it would be safe to spray on newly rooted cuttings of the Zebrina? I spot treated the cuttings with full strength 70% isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab, it didn't harm them and they rooted okay. Every once in awhile a few spots of scale show up that I have to take care of. I received both these plants in the same mail order and isolated them as I do all new plants. I've never had infestations in my huge collection of house plants except for soil mites (another mail order plant) and those were taken care of with one good treatment of water and peroxide treatment poured through the soil.

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants 10 днів тому

      Hi! Thank you for watching. Most likely, this is the result of overwatering. - Analyze your watering routine. The soil should be dry almost all the way through before watering. I would recommend to use the Soil Moisture Meter for establishing the proper watering frequency. Learn how to use this tool before and after watering here: mycityplants.com/plant-care/how-to-use-soil-moisture-meter/ ** Meter reading chart is provided in this post. - You may also take your Yucca plant out of the pot to check its roots. All should be firm. If any roots are soft, mushy - cut those off and repot your plant in fresh potting mix. Drainage is important! Here is my video about how to save an overwatered plant: ua-cam.com/video/W_6f2o30oFk/v-deo.html Green Luck & I hope your plant will get better!

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants 19 днів тому

      Hello & Thank you for watching! The Bird Of paradise plants need to be repotted on average once every 2-3 years. If you have noticed that the watering frequency went up and/or there is no space between the roots and the pot wall, and/or the roots are poking out at the bottom of the pot through the drainage hole - it is time to repot your plant. Green Cheers!

      Hi! Hard to say what is happening .... Can be pest infestation, bacteria/fungus, over fertilizer issue .... - Examine your plant carefully. remove all affected leaves. - Analyze your watering routine. The soil should be dry half way through before watering. I would recommend to use the Soil meter for establishing the proper watering frequency. Learn how to use this tool before and after watering here: mycityplants.com/plant-care/how-to-use-soil-moisture-meter/ ** Meter reading chart is provided in this post. - You may also take your Bird of paradise out of the pot to check its roots. My bird of paradise is getting very big with a lot of leafs.. I was wondering why you cut it at that location at that angel, is that to prevent it from getting new leafs or is it to allow it to grow new leafs? i read somewhere if you cut it too low, it will prevent it from growing new leafs, but i want to to keep growing.

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants 25 днів тому

      Hi! Thank you for watching! Angle cut is mostly for the esthetic purpose - so the cut blends in with the main stem and does not look chopped. You can make a cut a bit higher to ensure there is a bit of support for a new leaf when it starts to grow. Green Cheers & May your Bird of Paradise plant grow happy and healthy!

      Hi! Thank you for watching! Stay consistent with the treatment routine! Switch to Neem Oil amzn.to/3V4ICvB as soon as the infestation is under control and minimal. Spray Lightly (stems, leaves top and under + top soil) once every 7-10 days until the issue is solved and no new signs of pests are present. ** It is best to use just Neem Oil as the treatment for sensitive plants. Once a week - Wipe off visible bugs with 2-3 drops of dish soap diluted in 20oz water and LIGHTLY spray leaves, stems, and soil with Neem Oil. *** I would also recommend using Neem Oil for all your plants as a preventative measure during Spring-Summer or when you have a sick plant at home. Spray lightly once every 2-3 weeks. Green Luck! 🌱🌱🌱

    If Strelitzia is too tall I ll have to prune the tallest (newest) leaves, and that would mean ending the growth? cause new leaves only growing from the top ones, what to do to control its height..?

      Hi! Thank you for watching! You may prune your Bird Of Paradise plant back to get it into the desired height and width. New leaves grow form the center of the stem, between the leaves, so cutting back the tallest leaf will not stop the growth of a new one. Here is my complete guide about how to care for BOP: mycityplants.com/plant-care/bird-of-paradise-care/ Green Cheers & May your plant grow happy and healthy!

      @@Mycityplants thank you so much for the kind answer and the link💚 So I can prune the new tallest leaves to control the height and it will not stop the growth.
